Dear Dot Kiwi Crew.
I am writing in support of your application to create and manage the .kiwi domain registry.
As a New Zealand based, but globally oriented, domain management service we perhaps have a unique perspective on the value offered by this new domain. We believe that .kiwi offers a particularly exciting new opportunity for globally dispersed New Zealanders to anchor their profile on the web, whilst retaining a meaningful connection to their homeland.
We also believe that the .kiwi domain should be established and managed by New Zealanders, because the name Kiwi has iconic status within New Zealand culture. A degree of sensitivity is therefore required in how the domain is promoted. Having met some of the New Zealanders from the Dot Kiwi team, we feel that guardianship of the domain will be in good hands.
Dot Kiwi have indicated that some of the profits from this initiative will be redirected towards a trust to assist with post-earthquake recovery activities in Christchurch. This can only be advantageous in raising the profile of the city and its needs during this difficult period as rebuilding and reconfiguring unfolds.
